BarmeniaGothaer is one of the top 10 insurers in Germany and offers tailor-made solutions for private and corporate customers. With around eight million customers, premium income in the billions, and a clear focus as a mutual insurance company, the company stands for independence and long-term responsibility. Its claim: personal advice, digital service, support in all situations – “Weil du wichtig bist.”

The merger of Barmenia and Gothaer marks an exciting development – as does the creation of their new auditive brand world. We are accompanying this process as a partner for brand and CX building –audibly better! Together, we are designing solutions that make the brand audible, work across all touchpoints, and create a strong, recognizable profile.

Project Outline
Challenge
The merger of Barmenia and Gothaer required a shared auditive identity that would unite both brand worlds. The search was on for voices that would convey the values of humanity, passion, and entrepreneurship and work across advertising, service, and internal communication.
Methodology
comevis developed two voices based on the brand strategy and refined them iteratively. A quantitative study validated the impact, brand fit, and usability at various touchpoints.
Result
The modern, consistent voice identities make the new brand identity audible, strengthen recognition, and support advertising and service alike. They convey the brand values and the claim “Because you are important” at all points of contact.

Implementation

The new voice identity was developed from the strategy and translated into two distinctive brand voices.
This gives the new brand a harmonized, auditive foundation for the first time, which unifies its overall image and significantly strengthens its recognizability in the market.
Empowerment
The new brand voices were transferred into brand and CX structures, including clear guidelines for advertising, social media, service telephony, e-learning, and automated systems. This provides all internal teams and partners with a consistent, applicable framework that brings the claim “Weil du wichtig bist.” to life across all touchpoints.
Strategy
The merger offered the opportunity to create a shared auditive identity for the first time. The focus is on a consistent, recognizable voice branding basis.
The result is a two-voice squad – a human voice for emotional communication and a synthesized voice for service and interaction – as a clear framework for all future touchpoints.

The voice selection is based on a quantitative study involving 1,600 test subjects, which confirmed the emotional impact, brand transfer, and industry fit.

This creates a consistent, future-oriented voice identity – in harmony with the visual brand image and the claim “Weil du wichtig bist.”


Voice Guidelines
The voice guidelines define how the two brand voices of the Voice Squad are used. They specify characteristics, roles, language style, and core messages, and provide clear guidance for their application.

It also explains when real recordings or TTS are useful and how both formats work together consistently.

All relevant use cases are clearly assigned to the voices – for a consistent, recognizable brand image across all touchpoints.
